A couple weeks ago the roofers came and stripped off all of the old roof and laid down some new plywood and weather-proof barriers. They began putting the new metal roof on. Unfortunately for us, there was a crazy rainstorm a couple days after. They had only finished half of the roof. The rain was so hard that it permeated the barrier and leaked into our bedroom, right onto our pillows. That night we slept with the bed in the middle of the room. They came back and finished it off and put a new stack on the woodstove. We chose a nice burgundy color and eventually we will paint the shutters to match.
This is the roof over the sunroom and kitchen, with the new stack for the woodstove.
This is the roof over the majority of the house, and the new chimney.
A view of the roof and the house.

It's definitely a relief to have the roof done. It should never rain inside the house again.
