Rain, rain, go away continued...

So we spent our night last night going through the soaking wet boxes, saving what we could and re-boxing it. There wasn't too much that we had to throw out, mostly just books and magazines that weren't important to begin with. Important items were moved to our spare room upstairs, and everything else was just stacked on top of each other. You can see in this picture that we put the washer and dryer up on milk crates. The washer seems to be working, but the dryer won't turn on. :o(

The boxes that were on the bottom of these shelves got a little wet, so we decided it would be best not to put anything down there.

Everything is pretty dry now, except for a few spots on the floor. We're pretty much expecting more flooding with the rain that is coming tonight and tomorrow. So we just made sure everything was off the ground unless it was in something impermeable.

These poor guys got totally sloshed.

These are the lovely holes that we found in the foundation under the oil tank. They're basically just nice mudholes from when there was a septic system. One was filled in with concrete, which got all broken up. One was never even filled.

Oh, did I mention that the kitchen cabinet doors that I was sanding and painting are ruined? Guess we won't be putting the gorgeous blue glass knobs on those. We'll have to keep the door-less cabinet look until we can re-do the kitchen.

Our lucky ladybug keeps making appearances around the house. If they're supposed to be lucky, why is our house such a disaster?

So now we wait...the rain hasn't started yet. Hopefully it won't be as bad as they've forecasted. But at least this time we're a bit more prepared.
